Striplings 2060

"Wheee!"

submission: Striplings 2060

A couple of things I'd like to say:

1. There is a way to win... err... not lose at least (thats kinda like winning right?). When you get the friendship ending, you're life doesn't go down to 0 like all the other ones.

2. There is a crazy wierd bug when you click headbutt as fast as you can. It does the enemy animation and then goes back to the character's again.

3. If you do decide to make a second one, you should have a boss battle at the end, and make the players think that its beatable, with multiple rounds and different animations at each one. But in reality they all still end in defeat, and the ticker goes back to 0. That'll REALLY wate their time! Muahahah! (And make it so that it seems that the right combination of animations at the end kills the boss).

4. Sweet game... I am just racking up kills while I surf the web anyway, so it isn't really like wasting my time! I could almost make a mouse macro to totally cheat this game if there only wasn't two buttons in different spots (oh well...)

Author's Response:

Yeah, the friendship doesn't take your life...but that's as close as you're gonna get to "winning."

Bosses would be cool.

Someone wrote a program that clicked in all the right places and got up to 2699 while he slept.

He sent me a screenshot. He was at 20 hours 34 mins.

A game with great visuals and really bad gameplay...

I loved the graphics, but the game portion was completly pointless. The shape of your monster had nothing to do with anything and you couldn't even customize it or anything. Basically the game comes down to attacking and healing and hoping that your highest number is higher than the opponents highest number. Thats retarded.

I suggest that you pair up with someone to do the game. You make the visuals, he/she makes the game portion.

How the hell did you code the AI for this? Is there some reference material that I can look up or something? A book, or something on the internet? I would really like to know...

While its short and not well animated, I find this movie to be inspirational and interesting. If there was more to it than that, it could easily be rated very well.

Kepp learning and keep up the good work!

MMZ - The Last Cataclysm

"Impressive!"

date: April 17, 2005

This movie was probably the best directed megaman prite animation on Newgrounds right now. The camera work and sprite effects were excellent, but I think there are are some things that I would have liked to see better of.

First of all, I think that the music was a bit off in certain parts. I give a 10 for sound because of the superb voice acting, but (especially true in the fight scenes) I think that different music was in orer for some of the scenes.

Probably the biggest thing that miffed me, however, is the.... poor quality of the fight choreography. Probably one of the most important things in a serious sprite animation, a constant flow and a fast pace are required for an above quality movie of this type, which I saw really none of. The enemies seemed to walk right into Zero's attacks, and it took him nearing 2 full seconds each to prepare for his next kill. Personally, I would have have twice the number of kills in half the amount of time, all very quickly in sequance (leaving for little "down-time" in the battles themselves)

Anyway... For the next one, think about what I said. With improved actions, this movie (or at least the next one) will be on the top 100 slot for some time to come!

Take to the Streets

"Reminds me of Streets of Rage :)"

date: February 21, 2005

Very nice and well-developed game... Funhouse mode is crazy! I dies in like 20 seconds...

Anyway, the style of the game is very unique, and the coding is very solid and unbreakable, save one bug I found. I had umm... died, but I wasn't dead. I had 0% life and the game over screen came up, but I could still move, fight, and kill guys. I found very quickly that when I picked up a health pack that the condition went away (and then I actually died) so it isn't a terrible bug, but I think that you could probably go through the game like that if you don't pick up a health pack.

Author's Response:

Thanks Takato!

The bug with the health packs also works when you try to do a Decorer punch - it drains your health, but the health pack tops it back up and you don't do the punch. This may be fixed in a future version, but it's similar to "weapon juggling" in Final Fight I think.

Ball Revamped: Metaphysik

"Great Jeorb!"

date: February 10, 2005

This game is really addictive, and I felt myself forced to continue all the way too the end, even though I never originally intended to. I would love to get a good score, but alas, my skill for this one is not so great. Like 1200 seconds was the best I could do... :(

Anyway, there was only one thing that griped me. In a couple of places in the game, when I died I would die like 10 times instead of one because my recreated ball would do the action I intended my other one to do. Not only that, but at the boss, I died like 20 times in a row becausee the white square that appears was on top of the spawner! Kinda ruined my death toll. You should be like invincible for 2 secs or something, I don't know...

Great game!

All Hallow's Eve

"Great Game! Addictive like caffeine!"

There were some nice little touches in this game. I loves the silly sound effects the monsters made in the game. I finished with a little over 70000 points on Normal difficulty.

I'de have to say the greatest detail I loved was how the bottom of the level kept getting darker and darker as you played on. At the last level, you can't even see the zombies until they are close to knocking at your door!

Excellent Flashmanship (Is that a word?)

Virtual Keyboard V 1.1

"Most fun-filled education on this site."

date: October 20, 2004

This game nears perfection in its field, and is easily the most fun educational product on Newgrounds. I mean, come on! Mario as a tool for learning? Ingenious! I have tried my hand at music before and found it stuffy and boring, but I found I could fiddle around with this and even learn the music from the best game ever.

The only thing that held this back from a 10 was one thing that I would have liked to have seen. I know it is incredibly hard to do in flash, but I would have liked to be able to hold a note. If you added that functionality, most of the glitchy parts in the demos would be erased (they are glitchy for that reason).

Excellent work!

Prowlies at the River

"No word can decribe it..."

date: August 27, 2004

...Except maybe... wow?

Anyway, I have to ask: Do you hand draw your art? Because it is the most amazing flash art I have ever seen while running smoothly during the movie. The animation, the character designs, the plot (maybe not the plot so much at the end ^_^); Everything fits together in this movie harmoneously (spelling?), and I am left speechless.
